Orange County Developing Complete Streets Plan, Hosting Workshops on June 16 and 17

logoThe Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG) is leading the development of an Orange County Complete Streets Initiative (OC CSI). The OC CSI is aimed at providing a phased enhancement of Orange County’s street system to accommodate growing multi-modal transportation needs as the county redevelops and invests in transit improvements, bikeway facilities, and mixed-use/transit oriented development. The primary goal of the OC CSI is to develop and implement enhanced street design policies, guidelines, processes and standards for a range of multi-modal transportation needs (including pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and automobiles) in a way that eases congestion, reduces pollution, promotes increased mobility choice, and boosts user safety. It will also provide a menu of policies that can be adopted by local jurisdictions into the Circulation Element of the General Plan to ensure compliance with California Assembly Bill 1358, also known as the California Complete Streets Act of 2008. The project is kicking off with public workshops in June and is expected to wrap up at the end of 2015.
