The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is inviting public comment on the process for updating Guidelines for Countywide Transportation Plans (CTPs). These updated plans will serve as guidance to the Bay Area’s nine county Congestion Management Agencies (CMAs) in the development of their CTPs.
MTC set up a website for the update process here: www.mtc.ca.gov/planning/ctp.
Submit written comments on the update via email to email@example.com until August 13, 2014.
It’s important that the updated guidelines reference the One Bay Area’s goals of increasing physical activity, decreasing collisions, and reducing greenhouse gasses emissions. The updated guidelines must ensure that CTPs are regularly updated and address our region’s needs for active transportation, Complete Streets, Safe Routes to School, and equity.
MTC adopted the original CTP Guidelines in 1989, and last updated the guidelines in 2000. The updated CTP Guidelines are intended to inform the relationship between countywide transportation plans and the regional transportation plan while recognizing local needs and priorities.
In addition, for those who can attend, a public meeting will be held tonight, Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the MetroCenter Auditorium, located in the Joseph P. Bort MetroCenter, 101 Eighth Street, Oakland, across from the Lake Merritt BART station.
