LA Metro TAC to expand membership: adding pedestrian, bicycle and public health experts!
June 29, 2014 1 Comment
We regularly attend Metro policy and board committee meetings where Directors discuss and take action on key regional transportation projects, funding and polices. In June, the Metro Board made decisions regarding improving connections from transit to LAX, Open Streets, construction budgets and more. It was exciting to see the Metro Board adopt a motion to expand the Metro Technical Advisory Committee to include experts in pedestrian, bicycle and public health disciplines to expand the committee to better represent all forms of travel in Los Angeles County.
This is a policy change the National Partnership and Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition have been encouraging on behalf of the goals of the Los Angeles County Active Transportation Collaborative for close to a year now (see our November 2013 post)! The appointment process is still being worked out, so we hope it proceeds quickly and they select qualified candidates so that LA County benefits from their expertise as soon as possible. These meetings happen the first Wednesday of every month at 9:30 at Metro headquarters at Union Station, for information on the agendas click here.
