Our guest speaker: Azibuike Akaba is a Policy Associate for Regional Asthma Management and Prevention (RAMP), overseeing the development and implementation of the public health and equity aspects of SB 375. Azibuike will provide his perspective on climate change efforts in the Bay Area and RAMP’s work. He brings almost two decades of experience as an environmental consultant. He is currently a member of the Freight and Transport coalition and the Ditching Dirty Diesel Collaborative. Prior to joining RAMP, Azibuike served as a climate change policy analyst and a program coordinator for Health Care Without Harm where he developed a climate literacy curriculum for medical professionals to learn about the public health effects of climate change. His research interests include the public health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations in the U.S. and he provides technical assistance for environmental justice communities nationwide and internationally. Azibuike is a graduate of the New College of California and he trained as a medical technologist at the Letterman Army Institute of Research.
