DEADLINE EXTENDED – 2013 SRTS National Conference Call for Session Proposals

2013 Safe Routes to School National Conference Call for Session Proposals deadline has been extended to February 21st.  The conference, Building on Success—Projects, Programs, People, will be held August 13-15, 2013, in Sacramento. Submit your proposal NOW!  There are so many great programs in California to highlight!

The Call for Session Proposals Instructions and online Submittal Form are available on the conference website. All proposals must be submitted using the online form. This process should be used to submit any proposals for breakouts, workshops, tours, mind mixer sessions or networking activities. Click here to access the form and instructions.

The program will span three days with optional tours and special events scheduled throughout. The main program will kick off on Tuesday morning, August 13, and continue through Thursday afternoon, August 15. The schedule includes a dynamic mix of plenaries, breakouts, implementation workshops, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, coordinated networking activities, as well as a strong youth engagement component. It will also feature exciting tours of local model programs and projects in and around the greater Sacramento region.

A significant factor in the success of Safe Routes to School is its appeal to so many different disciplines. The conference will draw a national audience of school leaders and staff; local elected officials and city and county staff; state and federal agency leaders; professionals in planning, transportation, public health, landscape architecture, architecture, public works, and parks and recreation; advocates for equity and environmental justice, youth, older adults, and walking and bicycling; environmentalists; and all others committed to improving conditions for children to walk and bicycle to school and creating safer, healthier and more livable communities.

There will be something for everybody, from veteran experts to smart growth novices, with over 50 sessions and workshops to choose from. Learn from renowned experts as well as those working in the trenches on these issues. Representatives of communities across the country will come together across disciplines to share insights, valuable tools and strategies for making Safe Routes to School a success in your community. The conference is hosted by the Local Government Commission and sponsored by the National Center for Safe Routes to School, the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and many other agencies, organizations and associations from across the state of California and the country.
