2014 -15 SCAG Strategy


Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) (Primary Objective): Support implementation of the 2012 Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS) and create a strong framework for the 2016 RTP.

  • Monitor the development of the 2016 RTP/SCS implementation to ensure that active transportation funding and planning are prioritized.

  • Work with SCAG staff to develop a robust active transportation program devoted to improving data collection, coordination, and funding in Southern California.

  • Support the inclusion of a Regional Complete Streets Plan, a Regional Safe Routes to School Plan, and an Active Transportation Strategic Funding Plan at SCAG.

  • Support the implementation of the Active Transportation, Public Health and Sustainability policy frameworks.

  • Support the adoption of MOUs between SCAG and each CTC regarding Active Transportation, Public Health and Sustainability.

  • Support the development of a strong active transportation scenario and monitor the implementation of SCAG’s new Activity Based Model.

  • Work with SCAG to ensure the allocation of the MPO 40% from the California Active Transportation Program (ATP) and encourage local jurisdictions to apply to the ATP.

  • Ensure continued public participation by active transportation and public health stakeholders in the decision-making process.
