California Health in All Policies Public Workshops

Health in All Policies - Los Angeles Workshop 9/7/10

Participate in upcoming public workshops to provide input about actions that State agencies can collaboratively take to promote healthy, equitable, and sustainable communities.

The Health in All Policies (HiAP) Task Force released a report in December 2010 outlining 34 recommended State actions to advance health through the policy areas of active transportation; housing and indoor spaces; parks, urban greening, and places to be active; violence prevention; healthy food; and healthy decision-making processes.  The Task Force will work with the Strategic Growth Council (SGC) to select a small number of priority recommendations for near-term implementation.

The purpose of these workshops is to provide input to the Task Force and SGC as they select priority recommendations.  The Task Force is particularly interested in hearing from public health workers, local and regional planners, government representatives in the policy areas above, and other interested stakeholders.  The workshops will address:
·       Which recommendations are most likely to facilitate, advance, and support local work?
·       What opportunities exist to link local and State work to benefit communities?
·       Which recommendations would provide the most on-the-ground community benefits?
