SCAG Hiring a Manager of Active Transportation!
November 6, 2012 1 Comment

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank SCAG for its dedication to Active Transportation and look forward to working with SCAG to making Southern California a safer place to walk and bike!
We first heard the potential for an active transportation department from Hasan Ikhrata, SCAG’s Executive Director, during a panel discussion at the California Pedestrian Counts Conference in May 2012. Since then we have been waiting patiently to see how this statement would play out. In June, SCAG went through a reorganization to focus on implementing the 2016 RTP/SCS and incorporate the comments they received from the public. This reorganization led to the development of a new Active Transportation department. Now SCAG has taken the next step by releasing the announcement for a new position that will lead this work.
Under the direction of the Director of Land Use and Environmental Planning, the Manager of Active Transportation and Special Programs is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating the following programs: Active Transportation, Bike/Ped Programs, Complete Streets, Safe Route to Schools, Health Impact Assessments, Energy Policy and Water Policy. The manager will work closely with other SCAG divisions and departments, regulatory agencies, Regional Council members, and other partners and stakeholders.
If you know someone who would make a strong addition to SCAG’s planning team please forward the job announcement found here.
